"فلا أتصور إنسانًا على بساطة عقله وقلة معرفته لم يسأل نفسه يومًا هل لهذا الكون حقًا خالق أم أنه هنا وحده في غربة وجودية بلا معين وبدون معنى أو هدف لتلك الحياة؟ وبنفس القدر يحاول ذات الإنسان أن يختبر مدى صلابة معتقداته وسلامتها من أي نقيصة تُعكِّر عليه صفو يقينه فيها، سواء كان ذلك بالعقل أو الضمير أو الشعور أو الحدس... وهو ما يفتح الباب على مصراعيه للتحاوُر والدراسة والتأمُّل ويفترض فينا صِدق الرغبة في بلوغ الحقيقة.
لكن علمنا اليوم يعاني ارتفاع أصوات المتطرفين من المؤمنين والملحدين على السواء، ممن يدعون امتلاك الحقيقة المطلقة، وبما لديهم من نظرة أحادية وضيق للأفق يملؤهم اليقين بصحة ما لديهم من المعرفة، ووجوب إيمان العالم من خلفهم بما لديهم من خطاب يُدلِّل على امتلاك السبيل الوحيد لبلوغ الحقيقة والاستئثار بالمعرفة وتجهيل الآخر بدرجة أنه حتى لا يستحق التحاور معه. وهو ما يُظهر تناقُضًا واضحًا بين ما حقَّقه الإنسان من تقدُّم علمي وتكنولوجي هائل في مجال الاتصالات والتواصل إضافة إلى أبحاث أو دراسات يصعب إحصاؤها في مجالات كعلم النفس والاجتماع والتنمية البشرية تحاول أن تصل بإنسان اليوم إلى أعلى درجات التواصُل والتكيف والتعايش مع الآخر وبين ما نحياه من واقع منافٍ لأبسط معايير التسامح والانفتاح على الآخر."
