تنفرد مدينة صعدة اليمنية, بجبانة فريدة بين الجبانات الأثرية فى العالم الاسلامى, إذ يرجع تاريخ هذه الجبانة على الأرجح إلى القرن الثالث الهجرى/ 9 م ويستمر تاريخها حتى الآن, يدل على ذلك آلاف الشواهد القائمة بها الى اليوم, وكثير منها فى حالة طيبة من الحفظ, وأيضا كثير منها مطمور فى باطن الأرض.
ولقد وقع اختيارى على مجموعة من الاف هذه الشواهد الأثرية للدراسة الأثرية البحتة, ينشر منها فى هذا الجزء الأول (90 شاهدا), أقدمها للقارئ والمتخصص فى ميدان الآثار الاسلامية كعميل جديد ينشر لأول مرة وفى جهد متواضع, يوضح أهمية الكتابات الأثرية فى اليمن الشقيق.
وتبدأ فصول هذا الكتاب بعرض سريع لأهمية مدينة صعدة فى العصر الإسلامى, من واقع أهميتها التاريخية, وموقعها الجغرافى المتميز وبعض أحداثها فى العصر الاسلامى. وفى الفصل الثانى, عرضت للنصوص الدينية والالقاب التى وردت على شواهد أصحاب هذه المجموعة المنشورة.
أما الفصل الثالث فقد إقتصر على عرض لأسلوب الخط الوارد على هذه الشواهد, وكذلك الزخارف النباتية والهندسية, حيث وضح لنا استخدام خط الثلث كخط رئيسى على شواهد هذه المجموعة, وقد ورد على أربعة شواهد منها ذكر لأسماء الخطاطين الذين ذكروا الأسماء عليها, مصحوبة فى بعض الأحيان بطلب المغفرة لهم أو لذويهم.
أما الفصول الأربعة الأخيرة من هذا الكتاب, فقد تضمنت قراءة نصوص هذه الشواهد والتعليق على أنسابها. وفى مجال التعليق على أنساب أصحاب هذه الشواهد, فقد رجعت الى مجموعة كبيرة من الكتب والمراجع التى ذكرت بعض المعلومات عن الأنساب, فضلا عن مخطوطة هامة للغاية تتعلق بأنساب مدينة صعدة, محفوظة فى معهد المخطوطات التابع لجامعة الدول العربية.
