هذا المجموع الشعريّ جمع مادّته المرحوم أحمد بن حسن العمّاري في شبابه في وريقات رتّبها على حروف الهجاء، بدءاً بالنقائض والمجاريات، ولكنّه مع مرور السنين أهملها، فتناثرت تلك الأوراق وأصابها البلل والعفن، وفقد جزء منها، فلما رأيتها عنده، وكان قد فقد اهتمامه بها نتيجة تعاقب الأعوام من دون أن يستفيد منها، طلبت منه أن يعطيني إِيّاها فلم يمانع، فأخذتها واحتفظت بها إلى الآن لمدّة قاربت نصف قرن.
إِنّنا بإصدار هذا المجموع الشعريّ نحفظ للأديب الراحل أحمد بن حسن العمّاري اسمه بين نظرائه الّذين أرّخوا ورصدوا الحركة الشعريّة في البحرين والجزيرة العربيّة، والّتي تحتاج إلى المزيد من الجهود الحثيثة لإغناء تراث الخليج والجزيرة العربيّة والمحافظة عليه من الضياع والإندثار.
إِنّني بتقديم هذه القصائد المخطوطة للقرّاء، وبينها قصائد لم تنشر قبلاً، أريد أن ينتفع بها كلّ مهتمّ، فعسى أن يجد بينها ما يعجبه أو ما يستحقّ القراءة، كما أريد أن أبرز اسم جامعها رحمه الله لما له من أيادٍ عليّ شخصياً ولأفضاله الكثيرة، وتأديبه لي، ومتابعته لموهبتي المبكرة في كتابة الشعر، فعسى أن أكون قد وفّقت في ردّ صنائعه، وأن أثبت شخصيّته بين أدباء البحرين في القرن العشرين.
