من النادر في الروايات أن نقرأ عن السجن, كمؤسسة عقاب, وفضح وقائع ما يجري داخلها على نحو مأساوي, كما في هذه السرنامة. المؤلف لا يكتفي بتحليل الانعكاس المرضي للسجن, والصراعات الداخلية فيه, ومناخات الانحراف والشذوذ والجريمة داخل الأفراد. إنه يشرح, كما في مختبر, مجتمعاً مهيأ للإدانة وضرورة العقاب, ومؤسسات حكومية معادية للحرية وحقوق الإنسان. الأعمق في سرنامة عزيز نسين, ذلك الإحساس بكراهية السجن كمؤسسة عقاب, ولا جدوى هذه المؤسسة الفاسدة, المعادية للجوهر الإنساني بما هي خالقة ومؤصلة للفساد والشذوذ والجريمة داخلها. ويقول المؤلف: المكان المدعو زنزانة رطب, وساكن الى حد أن هواءه عفن وصدىء. لو قبضت بكفك على هواء المكان المدعو زنزانة, والذي لم يجف في أي وقت وعصرته لقطر ماء. إذا استنشق الإنسان هواء هذا المكان المدعو زنزانة, المختلطة قذارته مع صدئه, وما يشربه مع ما يتبوله, وما يأكله مع ما يتبرزه, فلا بد أن يختنق تسمماً. البقاء في هذا المكان المدعو زنزانة أكثر من شهر يحول دم الإنسان من الأحمر الى الأصفر, ومن الأصفر الى بياض القيح, وفي النهاية تسقط على وجهه شباك الموت.
