أكدت المحاولة الإنقلابية الفاشلة في 15 تموز / يوليو 2016 على الرئيس التركي رجب طيب اردوغان، أن النزعة الإنقلابية العسكرية في تركيا لم تخمد، لكن البعد السياسي والخارجي لهذه المحاولة كان أكثر وضوحاً من الإنقلابات السابقة.
فمجموعة الضباط المتمردين لم تكن سوى أداة في حرب سياسية بين أردوغان والداعية الديني فتح الله غولين، ومن خلفه الولايات المتحدة الأميركية.
يلقي هذا الكتاب الضوء على مسار الصراع بين النزعتين العسكرية والسياسية في تركيا منذ الإنقلاب الأول عام 1960، ويعرض لأوجه أخرى من الإنقلابات المدنية المفتوحة التي شهدتها تركيا في ظل سلطة أردوغان.
ويتوقف الكتاب بالتفصيل عند مسار العلاقة بين الشريكين أردوغان - غولين، ومن ثم التطورات التي مهدت للإنفجار الكبير في 15 تموز / يوليو وتداعياته الداخلية والخارجية.
