وفي هذا الكتاب أيضًا تسلط الضوء على القضايا السياسية ورجالها والصراعات الحزبية وزعمائها، وكذلك تروي فريدة كيف واجهت الحياة بعد الطلاق من الملك فاروق واشتغالها بالفن، وتصف أحزانها وقلقها لبعدها عن بناتها الأميرات وعلاقاتها برؤساء مصر بعد الثورة. إن أهمية هذا الكتاب أن الملكة وثقت بالكاتب، وارتبطا بصداقة عائلية متينة ففتحت قلبها وعقلها لتحكي كل أسرار حياتها منذ طفولتها حتى لقاء ربها، وتكلمت بكل صراحة ولم تُخفِ شيئًا أو تتحفظ على سر وهي التي رفضت قبل ذلك عشرات العروض للحديث من كتّاب مصريين وعرب وأجانب. والكاتب المستشار فاروق هاشم شارك في الحياة السياسية والاجتماعية في مصر، وله اهتمامات بقضايا المجتمع المصري والعربي والإسلامي، وتقلد عدة مناصب في الداخل والخارج، وزار معظم دول العالم وشارك في الكثير من المؤتمرات، وتشرف بمقابلة العديد من الملوك والرؤساء والمسئولين في هذه الدول.
