حاولت في هذه الدراسة المهمة والتي تبحث في موضوعة بقدر وضوحها لم تدرس وتوضح دلالات الحب في الفن التشكيلي العراقي المعاصر من خلال ثلاثة فصول لكشف ومعرفة تلك الدلالات والتي تبدأ من عام 1950 وهو عام متميز بإنطلاق الحركات الفنية والثقافية والأدبية إلى عام 1980 حيث الحرب العراقية الإيرانية وتم تحديد الدراسة في الرسم والنحت.
للحب أشكال متعددة تعتمدها وجهات النظر المختلفة لدى الإنسان وهي تتسع إتساع الرؤيا الشاملة وتضيق أحياناً فتصبح ضمن رؤيا الذات الفردية في الحياة ولأنّ الحب موضوع شامل يعتمد التفسيرات المختلفة في فهمه وإدراك ماهيّته ليتخذ صوره الفنية المتعددة الدلالة، فقد ظهرت الصعوبات في فهم تفاصيله وتحديد إتجاهاته وإرتباطه بطبيعة الحياة، فهو كما قال بعض الفلاسفة كالحياة وكذلك طبيعة الموروث الثقافي الذي ينعكس على هذا الموضوع ليتجلى في عمل فني ما.
وعلى الرغم من أنّ الحب سبب لناموس الحياة ليحرك الموجودات إذ لولاه لما كان هنالك وجود وما كان للصراع معنى في قصة الخلق الأولى إلا أن الصعوبة تكمن في فهمه وتحديد أبعاده حيث الإختلاف في التفكير والإعتقاد مما شكل خصوصية منعكسة في عالم الفن بصورته العامة والفن التشكيلي بصورة خاصة.
إن الوسيلة النابضة بالحياة الوجدانية هي الفن المجسد للعاطفة المرتقية به إلى حالات السمو الجمالي وذلك لا يمكن أن يوجد إلا على أساس من الحب، لذا كانت الفنون حقيقة عكست هذا المفهوم المتعدد الدلالات من خلال الأعمال الفنية منذ الفن في عصور ما قبل التدوين لدى الإنسان البدائي إلى آخر ما توصلت له الحركات الفنية الحديثة والمعاصرة.
