"العنكبوت" رواية قرأتها, فوجدت فيها بعض شتاتي فأحببتها, فنقلتها إلى العربية, والعنكبوت دنيا من شخوص متآلفة حينا, متنافرة أحيانا, تحركها أحداث متداخلة هي المزيج بين الواقعي المعيش, والعجائبي المحلق فى فضاءات بعيدة لا تطال.
فى شعرية دفيئة, وضرب من السرد الماكر الآسر, يطوح بك منصور مهني في عوالم تبدو لك مألوفة في ظاهرها, جلية حتى كأن لا غبار عليها, غير أن الرواية, وهي تنغلق على صفحاتها الأخيرة, سرعان ما تفجأك بما لم تتوقع, فتعصف بما كان رسخ فى ذهنك من بعض طمأنينة, وتفتح أمامك أبوابا للحيرة والدهشة واللايقين.
"فارس", بطل هذه الرواية مسكون بكتابة حكاية... حكاية جديدة مبتكرة.. حكاية "تنشئ عالمها البكر ساعة تنشأ".. حكاية عذبة آسرة تعرف كيف تترسخ فى ذهن قارئها حتى لتستحيل جزءا منه, وفى سبيل أن يتفرغ لكتابة حكايته المنشودة, يهرب فارس من أطفاله وزوجه وقلقه وخيباته إلى نزل بحري فى مدينة "المنشية", وهناك تبدأ الحكاية..
فى النزل يلتقي فارس بنماذج من الناس عاديين لهم حضورهم فى واقعنا اليومي المعيش حتى لنستطيع العثور على أضراب لهم كثر فى وسط الاجتماعي دون كبير عناء...
"أميمة" بنت العشرين, "زاهي" الرسام المفتتن بالجسد وفرحة الحياة, المستحمة الجميلة القادمة من الضفة الأخرى للمتوسط, وغيرهم من الشخوص التي تؤلف نسيج هذه الرواية, كلهم في ظاهر الأمر, عاديون لا يميزهم عن بقية خلق الله خوارق أو كرامات, غير أن النص, وهو يلامس فقراته الأخيرة, سرعان ما يكشف لقارئه أن كل هؤلاء ما كانوا سوى أقنعة تتحرك وسط عالم غرائبي أحكم نسجه الروائي في لغة هي أقرب إلى الشعر منها إلى النثر..
