إنه يسعدني أن أقدم للمكتبة العربية إضافة جديدة في عالم المعاجم والقواميس الانجليزية معجم "التعبيرات والأفعال الاصطلاحية وحروف الجر" عله يسد فراغًا كبيرًا في هذا المطلب. وقد رأينا من خلال البحث، والدراسة في آداب اللغة الانجليزية وتراكيبها اللغوية أن هناك حاجة ملحة لإعداد قاموس جديد من نوعه، متفردًا في ذاته وأسلوبه، يضم التعبيرات اللغوية، والأفعال الاصطلاحية (Phrasal Verbs) التي تستخدم على نطاق واسع في لغة المحادثة والحوار، وكذلك حروف الجر المصاحبة للمفردات اللغوية من فعل، وصفة مما يوفر على دارسي اللغة الانجليزية، والباحثين، وعامة المثقفين جهدًا كبيرًا، وعناءًا كثيرًا في العثور على ضالتهم المنشودة، ويسرني أن ألفت النظر إلى ما يمتاز به معجم "التعبيرات والأفعال الاصطلاحية وحروف الجر" أنه يضم عبارات وجمل اصطلاحية تتنوع ما بين علمية، وأدبية، وفنية، وثقافية، وتجدر الإشارة إلى أن الفعل الاصطلاحي "Phrasal Verb" هو الفعل الذي يتغير معناه بتغير حرف الجر المصاحب له.
كما راعيت أن يضم هذا القاموس حروف الجر الأكثر استخدامًا مع كل فعل أو صفة، كما حرصت أيضًا على تدوين التعبيرات الأكثر استخدامًا وتداولًا في الحياة اليومية، ولغة الحوار، والمحدثة "Theme panel and Idimos" إضافة إلى تعبيرات اللغة الرسمية وغير الرسمية، وحتى تبدو مفردات القاموس بشكل واضح ومريح للعين فقد حرصت على عدم تكرار المفردة مرة أخرى عند ذكر حرف الجر المصاحب لها أو عند ذكرها مع أي تعبير اصطلاحي، وإنما اكتفيت بوضع الشرطة (-) للدلالة على أن تلك (الشرطة) تحل محل المفردة السابق ذكرها.
كما حرصت على أن يتضمن هذا القاموس مجموعة من الاختبارات، والتمارين التي تعين مستخدم هذا القاموس على تقويم نفسه، والتعرف على المستوى الذي وصل إليه. وذلك من خلال نموذج الإجابة المرفق حتى يمكنه أن يصحح أخطاءه، ويتأكد من صواب ما يتعلمه، والمرجو أن يكون هذا القاموس الفائدة المبتغاه لكل من يستخدمه.
