مؤلف هذا الكتاب (روبير بلانشي) فليسوف ومنطقي فرنسي (1889 -1975) من دعاة المحافظة على الصلة بين المنطق الصوراني والفلسفة التي يعبر عنها الفلاسفة باللغة الطبيعة أي لغة التصورات والمعاني. وأمام الدعوة المتزايدة إلى تعرية الحساب المنطقي من التصورات والمعاني التي تربطه بالفلسفة انبرى المؤلف للدفاع عن منطق فكري يتمسك بالمعاني كما تستعمل في مختلف وجوه النشاط المنطقي على الصورة التي يمارسه بها المفكرون الذين يتعالمون مع اللغة الطبيعية.
وكتابه هذا (العقل والخطاب) الذي يصرح فيه بأنه دفاع عن المنطق الفكري أي عن المنطق الذي تجرى عملياته باستعمال المعاني والأفكار، هو دعوة قوية لإبقاء المنطق في دائرة الفلسفة ولمنع الرياضيات من ابتلاعه في تيار الأنساق الصوانية التي لم تلتفت إلى الإستعمالات الواقعية للأفكار وللمعاني كما تجري وتتدافع في نشاط العقل البشري الفطري.
وإذا كان هذا الكتاب دفاعا عن المنطق الفكري، فإن صاحبه يستنكف عن أن يكون هذا العمل منه رفضا للمنطق الصوراني الذي يستعمل لغة الرموز بدلا من لغة المعاني والتصورات. ويمكن أن نقول إنه كتاب وضع فيه مؤلفه المنطق الفكري في موقعه الطبيعي والمنطق الرمزي في مواقعه أيضا. وهذا هو موقف المنطقي الذي يمارس الفلسفة، والفيلسوف الذي يمارس المنطق. وأعتقد أن هذا أيضا هو الموقف الذي يحافظ به العقل الفطري على جذروه الطبيعية التي لا ينبغي أن تحول بينه وبين الازدهار باستعمال لغات أخرى غير اللغة الطبيعية التي نشأ في أحضانها نشأته الأولى لكن كآلة لتفكير الإنسان في مشاكله ولحلها غي مجري حدوثها وتطورها.
