يؤكد كثير من الباحثين على ان دراسة البداوة العربية هامة، لأن البدو يكونون قطاعا غير هين في المجتمع العربي ، ولأن الكثير من القيم البدوية لازالت حية في المجتمع العربي عن طريق ارتباطها بالاسلام منذ ظهوره، وعن طريق الولاء القبلي في كثير من أرجاء العالم العربي، ولان انتقال البدوى من حياة الداوة إلى الحياة الصناعية عملية يحوطها الكثير من الصعاب وألوان الصراع ، ولقد نبعت هذه المحاولة من الضرورة العملية والقومية التى تملى على المتخصصين في الدراسات الاجتماعية توجية مزيد عنايتهم لدراسة مجتماعتهم.
ولذا اختارت الباحثة المجتمع السعودي ومنظمة نجد لتدور حولها الدراسة لان هذا المجتمع يمثل ذلك النمط التقليدي المتغير، حيث ان منطقة نجد بالمملكة كانت من المناطق شبة المنعزلة وغير المخالطة لمجتمعات اخرى نتيجة لموقعها الجغرافي في الوسط وتحيطها مساحات شاسعة من الرمال وكان لهذا الموقع اهمية كبيرة في الجياة التقليدية فكان متميزا بعاداته الاقتصادية والنهضة العمرانية بدأ التغير واخلاتلاط واجتذاب المنطقة لأعداد متزايدة من اتجاهاتهم وتقاليدهم وعاداتهم المختلفة وما ينتج عن ذلك من مشكلات وتعقيدات ومواقف جديدة كل ذلك دفع بالباحثة إلى دراسة هذا المجتمع خلال هذا المرحلة من التحول
