هذا الكتاب وهو السادس فى سلسلة كتاب "جيب الفنان"، يعرف بالليثوجرافية وهى الطباعة الملساء من سطح مسامى طبيعى. فالحجر مادة خام، والمعدن خامة يمكن عمل مسامية صناعية بها (كالتخشين أو التحبيب) وباستخدام الماء والحبر الدهنى مع صمغ وحامض، يمكن تطبيقها على سطح الحجر أو المعدن. بهذه البصمة بالضغط ينتقل الحبر على أى منهما، ويعد سطحا طباعيا يستجيب للطباعة اليدوية والميكانيكية.
هذا الكتاب يعرف بتسلسل دقيق تقنية هذا الفن المستقل، الذى لا يشابه ما سبقه. وهكذا تتواصل الوسائل الطباعية باستخدام الجلد والخشب والحرير والمعدن والحجر.
