ما يملأني دهشة, معرفة الإنسان بحقيقة نفسه وحقيقة وجوده والقوانين التي تنظم علاقاته مع الناس ومع الله, والمواقف الوجودية التي لابد وأن يعيشها ويجربها مثل: الذنب والألم والمرض والموت; ومع ذلك يطلب لنفسه منها الإستثناء, معتقداً إمكانية وجود تشريع عام ينطبق علي الآخرين وتشريع ذاتي إستثنائي لنفسه, الإنسان يعلم ويفهم ما يحدث للآخرين وينشغل ويتمني ما ينبغي أن يحدث له, حتي ولو لم يكن بأستطاعته تغييره أو تجنبه, وهذا هو التناقض في فكر وإرادة وأتجاهات الإنسان. ولكي يتضح لنا الجانب الآخر من الحقيقة نكون بحاجة للإجابة عن السؤال: بماذا نصف الشخص الذي لديه أتجاهات سلبية نحو المواقف الوجودية؟ هل هو نرجسي (يعشق ذاته)؟ أم متذبذب الإرادة؟ أم أنه ضعيف الإيمان؟.
