هذا الكتاب كان في الأصل أطروحـة لنيل شهـادة الدكتـوراه ، جامعة 8 ماي 1945 قالمــــة ، كلية العلوم الإنسانية والاجتماعية - قسم التاريخ ، الجمهوريـــة الجزائريــة ، السنة الجامعية 2018/2019م .
لا يزال موضوع " التأريخ للأزمات الصحية والغذائية " في مجالنا التداولي الأكاديمي فقيراً ، لا يوازي الاهتمام الموجود في حقلنا الحياتي ، فالتَّأريخ للأوبئة أو تاريخ الأوبئة ( epidemics history ) والذي نحن بصدده هو عملية قراءة استقصائية للآثار المترتب عن الأوبئة على مدار فترة زمنية محددة .
وهو (موضوع الصحة والغذاء) يُعدُّ مِن ضمن أهم المواضيع المستجدة التي تشتغل عليها الصُّحف والمجلات والإذاعات والقنوات التلفزيونية خلال الأزمات الطارئة ، لكنه يعود للهامش بمجرد مرور سحابة هذه الأزمات .
وتتجلّى أهمية الموضوع الآن في العودة اللافتة لموضوع " الأوبئة " في العالم بعد ظهور وباء (كوفيد 19) الذي يشغل الرأي العام العالمي اليوم بوطأته التي لم تكن لتُتخيل لدى الجمهور من قبل ، وإن تتبعنا الأمر قبل ظهور هذا الوباء بفترة زمنية قصيرة فقط سنجد أن الحيز الذي يشغله موضوع تاريخية الأوبئة كبير جدا ، لكنه يظل ظرفيا كما سبق الإشارة إليه ، فنجد مثلا أنَّ موضوع الأوبئة أضحى موضوع الساعة في الجزائر سنة (2018مـ) فكان لمدة زمنية طويلة إحدى الإشكاليات الرئيسة التي تتناولها الصحف والمجلات والقنوات التلفزيونية ، بل ظلت مختلف مكونات المجتمع تترقب تطور الأحداث ومساراتها .
