لقد ارتأيت أن يكون المحتوى لهذه الدراسة من أربعة أجزاء: يتناول الجزء الأول عمارة الأرض: نبدأ بالإنسان... فالإنسان هو محور الكون- الذي قامت به وحوله الحضارات الإنسانية- كما أنه هو المخلوق الوحيد القادر على الإبداع. الإنسان كائن فريد كرمه الله سبحانه دون سائر المخلوقات. إن قدر الإنسان رفيع- وله جوانب ونواحي عديدة ذات صلة وثيقة بنشاطه الخلاق- في تفسيرها الوسيلة إلى فهم مشكلات كثيرة في العمارة وفي الحياة عامة. فالإنسان مكلف بإعمار الأرض وعمرانها.
وإعمار الأرض يكفل إنماء المجتمع. ويستلزم توافر الطاقات اللازمة لتحقيق هذه العمارة- سواء كانت طاقات بشرية تكمن لدى الإنسان أو الجماعة أو طاقات مادية تتمثل في مجموع وسائل الإنتاج المتاحة للمجتمع- وتكون هذه الطاقات البشرية والمادية وموارده الطبيعية مجموع ما يتوافر لهذا المجتمع من طاقات يستعين بها في القيام بوظيفة إعمار الأرض. ومن ثم فإن عمارة الأرض تمثل قيمة الإنتاج في أي مجتمع. ومن خلالها نستطيع التحكم على أي أمة من الأمم. وفي أي عصر من العصور. وأي حضارة من الحضارات (وهي أصدق من التاريخ).
وكما كانت الصلة الوثيقة بين الفن والدين... فلقد نشات الظاهرة الجمالية أول ما نشأت- كما قيل- بين جدران أماكن العبادة. حيث ظهر فن العمارة- أقدم الفنون جميعًا- ثم ظهر فن النحت وفنون الجداريات... إلخ. فكان الدين هو الظاهرة الكبرى التي عملت على ظهور الفن وتطوره. ولم تلبث أن ظهرت مصنوعات الإنسان التي ابتكرت- كل منها- بناء على قدر من الحاجة. فلابد من أن نتوقف عند "تصميم" هذه الحاجات الإنسانية، فيختص الجزء الثاني بالتصميم، أما الجزء الثالث فيشمل تعريف العمارة الداخلية والنظرية المثالية، وتنتهي الدراسة بالجزء الرابع إلى تحديد عناصر النظرية.
