عندما يَفقد أميرٌ من شبه القارة الهنية أمه في سنٍ مبكرة، ثم يغادر القصر خلال العقد الثالث من عمره مخلّفاً وراءه زوجاً وابناً ومُلكاً بحثاً عن الحقّ والحقيقة متخذاً حياة الزهد والرهبنة طريقاً لبلوغ ذلك، حينها تخرج إلى العالم مِلّة تصبح بعد مائتي سنة الدين الرسمي للدولة آنذاك، واليوم تتبوأ مرتبة رابع أكبر ديانة على مستوى العالم بحيث يصل عدد أتباعها إلى ما يفوق الخمسمائة مليون فرد، لا بل وتبشّر ثلاثة كتب مقدسة بتعاليمها.
أما عندما تَفقد أميرة من ذات الرقعة الجغرافية أمها في سن مبكرة أيضاً، ثم تغادر القصر هي الأخرى خلال العقد الثالث من عمرها مخلّفة وراءها إرث زوجها –ولي العهد- ومعه دنيا الرخاء والرفاه بحثاً عن الحق والحقيقة متخذةً حياة الزهد والرهبنة طريقاً لذلك، فبالكاد يصلنا عنها شيء: لا مِلّة ولا أتباع ولا كتاب بل ولا أي أثر مُثبَت سوى بعض الأغاني والأشعار التي تناجي فيها ليل نهار محبوبها – مولاها – والتي وصلت إلى مسامعنا لأنها لا تزال تَتردد إلى اليوم في حناجر البُسطاء وأرباب العشق، والذين لو لم تأخذ بهم عفوية الكلمات وعذوبة الألحان وصدق الإحساس لتلك القصائد، لما كنّا قد عرفنا حتى بأنها قد عاشت يوماً ما على هذه البسيطة!
هكذا كانت تقسّم الأقدار في الشرق نصيب الذَكر ونصيب الأنثى؛ هكذا كانت قِسمة بوذا وقِسمة مِيرة!
