من المعروف أن دراسة الأجيال هي فرع من فروع علم الاجتماع وهذا العلم غير موجود في الدراسات العربية بشكل كبير ومن هنا تأتى أهمية البحث الذي يتعرض لتحليل عدد من القضايا التي تشغل بال المهتمين بالمجايلة حيث قام المؤلف بدراسة جيل الشباب قبل ثورة يوليو 1952 وجيل الشباب بعد ألثوره متعرضا برد الفعل الشبابي للهزيمة القومية في جيل 1967 في مصر ويصل المؤلف فى نهاية بحثه الى نتيجة حتمية تمتين النسيج الاجتماعي قبل أن يتسع الهوة بين جيل الشباب والمجتمع.
