الريف والحضر المصريين فى عصر ما قبل ظهور الراديو والتليفزيون كان مليئا وعامرا بالأغاني الشعبية الفلكلورية التى تتناول جميع الموضوعات تقريبا الحزين منها والسعيد والفرح والشجى وهذا الكتاب الذي بين يدينا رصد وسجل عدد كبير من أغاني الأفراح فى القاهرة الكبرى لحنت وألقيت على المسامع دون احتراف رسمي وقد تناول المؤلف الموضوع من وجهة نظر أدبيه ونفسية فان حالات الإنسان الوجدانية والانفعالية تتراوح طول الوقت بين المشاعر المختلفة أدت الى خلق هذا النوع من الغناء الشعب ولقد اختفى مؤخرا حتى فى البلدان الريفية الذين وصلت إليهم التكنولوجيا وقصت على هذا الفن ومن هنا فكر المؤلف فى تأليف هذا الكتاب وجمع فيه اكبر قدر ممكن وصلت إليه يديه فى الفلكلور والغناء والشعبي ليساهم بالحفاظ على هذا الفن الجميل من الاندثار والضياع.
