هذه الرواية تستفزك من جملتها الأولى، تتشاجر معها وتلعن ديكها فتلعن ديكك، تَحكك وتبصق في وجهك، توشوش في أذنك نكتة بذئية ثم تصفعك وأنت تضحك. يدخلها كاتبها وهو لا يعرف شيئاً عنها، حيث الكتابة وسيلة للمعرفة وليس العكس، يدخلها القارئ متوجساً أن يجد اسمه فيها، وخائفاً أن يتيه فيها إذ يتيه بها، القارئ الذي يدعي المعرفة المتعالية عن نص يتشكل بين يديه سيتعب كثيراً ويكابد هذا التداعي الذي يهدد نرجسيته، وسيقابل كثيراً من التشائم الموجهة إليه مسبقاً، بإمكان أي قارئ ان يكون أحد شخصيات الرواية حسب موقفه منها. رواية حدسية لا تحكمها رقابة تقليدية أو محدثة، تحتاج لأجل ذلك إلى مساحة شاسعة من التسامح في فعل القراءة ولكثير من تجاوز الذائقة المألوفة، كتابها كما يقال: (الّلي في قلبه على لسانه)، أو بالأحرى الذي في قلبه على رأس قلمه. يكتب ما يفكر فيه ولا يفكر في ما يكتب. الرجل هو روايته والرواية هي الرجل، لا يمكن أن تفصل بين الأصفر وكتابته. نصه مستنسخ عنه، يمشي كشميته أقبج مترنحاً، دائماً يتصبب بالعرق. نص ثقيل السمع يحكي ولا يسمع، سخي حد الإفلاس، دائم الترحال ومحير. النص فاضح بكشافه المسلط على حياتنا السرية وشوارعنا الخلفية وذواتنا المهمشة، مسلط بقسوة على عتمة هذا المكان التي فيها نمارس كل متعاتنا المحظورة، حيث الحياة تتدبر نفسها في الظلام والصدوع والزوايا المهجورة لتقي بنا مع شروق الشمس في كوابيس النهار. فاضح إذ الفضيحة وجه آخر للمعرفة، من نسيج الحياة ومرادف للحرية، وللذات المتعدية بتاريخها كله على اتفاق الجماعة المؤدلج. الرواية كما يؤكد كونديرا شرطها الأخلاقي الوحيد هو المعرفة ويكفيها هنا أنها قالت ما لا يقال بغير الرواية، أو كما يقول الأصفر ضمنها: السراب دليلها، وكما قال في البداية: لو كانت السماء دروباً لتاهت العصافير. فتنحو أيها الأساتذة دعونا نسمع العصفور.
