تدور هذه القصة مشاهد من الحرب الأهلية اللبنانية التي اندلعت في منتصف السبعينيات من القرن العشرين، وانتهت بعد نحو خمسة عشر عاماً من الاقتتال المرير الذي حصد أرواح من الأبرياء، وخلّف وراءه دماراً هائلاً قلما يشهد له مثيل. ويتجلى في القصة الخطر الجسدي الذي عاشه اللبنانيون يوماً بيوم، وساعة بساعة تحت وطأة القذائف والانفجارات ونيران البنادق والمدافع، وكذلك تنعكس المأساة على نفسية كل شخصيّة من شخصيات القصة بطريقة ينقلها لنا "سامي"، وهو صبيٌّ في العاشرة من عمره، بأسلوب طفولي بسيط ومعبر.
