خيري الذهبي روائي ومفكر سوري من مواليد دمشق 1946.
غادر إلى مصر في بداية الستينيات وتلقى هنالك تعليمه الجامعي في جامعة القاهرة وتخرج منها حاملاً الاجازة في اللغة العربية حيث درس الأدب العربي وتتلمذ أدبياً على يدي يحيى حقي ونجيب محفوظ وطه حسين، ثم عاد إلى سوريا وساهم في الحركة الثقافية السورية بكثافة في الصحافة والإذاعة والتلفزيون [[|أدب|والأدب]] بشكل خاص.
حاز على جائزة أدب الأطفال الأولى في السبعينات ،وشارك في تحرير العديد من دوريات وزارة الثقافة واتحاد الكتاب.

كانت نسخ الجَفر... الحقيقيّ... كما طاب لهم تسميته، قد اختفت حتّى من البيوت والجوامع...
اختفت ما بين ضياع غير مفهوم، وتلفٍ غير مقصود، وسرقةٍ صريحةٍ حيناً وإستعارةٍ محرجةٍ حيناً آخر!!...
والخلاصة أنّ النسخ المبشّرة بنهاية الدور... اختفت، وبدأ الناس بالإنصراف عن كتاب لا يحقّق آمالهم، ولاحظ الخبثاء منهم - كما كتب لي المخبر المثقّف، الذي "أنقذته من فضيحة تزوير مرّة" - أنّ الكتاب بعد أن كان يباع تهريباً وبصورة سرّية كالحشيش، هذا الكتاب نفسه ما إن تحسّنت طباعته، وتحسّن نوع ورقه، حتّى اكتشف الشارون أنّه قد خُصي، فلم يعد يسعد أحلامهم بنهايةٍ عادلةٍ لهذا الدور!...
انتشرت خيبة أمل الناس في كتاب كان يعدهم بالعدل والإنتقام، فإذا به يتحوّل إلى أدعية ملالي مهزومين، وبكاءات لطامين مقهورين لا أمل لهم إلا إنتظار القيامة، وعندئذ أدار الناس ظهورهم للكتاب، وأخذوا في البحث عن أمل جديدٍ وخلاص جديد... وأداروا ظهورهم للكتاب المطروح على البسطات ومحطات الباصات.
