يواجه قصر العروبة بمصر الجديدة- وهو المقر الحالي لرئاسة الجمهورية ومكتب الرئيس مبارك- أزمة قانونية تهدد ببطلان إتفاقية التنازل عن القصر التي وقعتها مؤسسة الرئاسة مع ملاك القصر الأصليين في عام 2003 والتي بموجبها أصبح القصر في حيازة رئاسة الجمهورية من وقتها حتى الآن حيث أن السيدة حياة السباعي أرملة عبد الله الجواهرجي صاحب القصر قد وقعت إتفاق التنازل دون إبلاغ النيابة الحسبية حيث أنها كانت وصية على أولادها القصر، وبحسب ما يرويه ورثة الجواهرجي في دعوى قضائية ضد رئاسة الجمهورية فقد تم الضغط، على والدتهم حتى وقعت عام 2003 إتفاق التنازل المطعون ببطلانه. وعلى لسان منير ثابت شقيق حرم السيد الرئيس، إذ قال: إن قصر العروبة، الذي تقيم فيه عائلة الرئيس مبارك، قال إن هذا القصر ملك للسيد الرئيس ولكنه لم يوضح كيف إشترى الرئيس مبارك هذا القصر المنيف؟!
