كان الإمام " الدهلوي" مصنف هذا الكتاب من نوادر الزمن، ونوابغ العلماء، ومن كبار المصنفين المحققّين، له مجموعة كبيرة في الفتاوى، وكتابه تحفة الإثني عشرية "في الرد على الشيعة من الكتب العديمة النظير، وله "العجالة النافعة" بالفارسية في أصول الحديث. أما كتابه " بستان الحديث" هذا والذي ألفه بالفارسية فهو أشبه بمذكرة علمية جيّدة في التعريف بأئمة المحدثين وكتبهم ومؤلفاتهم، وكانت من المقررات الدراسية بقسم الحديث في ندوة العلماء، ولأهمية اعتنى "أبو الحسن علي الحسين الندوي" بنقله من الفارسية إلى العربية وبالتعليق عليه، وبإكماله بفصول كان الكتاب في حاجة إليها لإخراجه في شكل أوفى وأتم.
