تتصل دراسة النظام المحاسبي- من ناحية - بالمبادئ العلمية إذ تعد تطبيقاً لها. والإطار الذي يعمل من خلاله المحاسب، كما يرتبط تصميم النظام المحاسبي- من ناحية أخري- بوحدة محاسبة معينة، فتختلف الأنظمة من نشاط لآخر، بل ومن منشأة لأخري، الأمر الذي يوجب علينا- في البداية- ضرورة التعرف علي البيئة التي يعمل فيها جهاز المحاسبة لدي البنوك بصفة عامة، منطلقين من أن بيئة النظام إنما تمثل مجموع المتغيرات التي تؤثر فيه وتتأثر به ولو بطريقة غير مباشرة وأنها تمثل بالنسبة للنظام المحاسبي مصدر مدخلاته في شكل بيانات، كما تعبر عن المستفيد من مخرجاته في صورة تقارير محاسبية تتضمن معلومات تساعد الإدارة لدي البنك وغيرها من الأطراف المعنية بأمره- وهي كثيرة- في أغراض الرقابة وترشيد قراراتها، هذا قبل أن نتناول المفاهيم الحديثة لإدارة البنوك ونظامها المحاسبي وكل ما يتعلق به.
