" جيوسياسة التنافس الدوي على منطقة الساحل الأفريقي " ، هو عبارة عن دراسة لتفاصيل التواجد الأجنبي بمنطقة الساحل الأفريقي ، من خلال مقاربة جيوسياسية ، يقوم فيها الكاتب بتفكيك العلاقة بين مختلف القوى المؤثرة بالمنطقة ، على مختلف الأصعدة ، السياسية ، الإقتصادية ، الإجتماعية ، الأمنية ، الثقافية ... إلخ ، وباختلاف المستويات لهذه القوى ، سواء المجاورة أو الإقليمية ، الثانوية ، الصاعدة والكبرى ، بما فيها المنظمات الحكومية والغير حكومية .
الكتاب يحمل في طياته محاولات للإجابة عن تساؤل محوري ، يصب في العلاقة البينية المتشابكة والمعقدة والغامضة أحياناً ، والتي تربط بين هذه القوى المتنافسة على هذا الفضاء الجيواستراتيجي والهش في نفس الوقت ، وكيف تم تقاسم الأدوار ، فيما بينها ، من خلال عدد من التحالفات الخفية أو غير المقصودة ، فيما لا يزال التنافس المحتدم بين عدد من الأطراف الخارجية من أجل السيطرة وبسط النفوذ ، رغم اختلاف النوايا والأهداف ، وهي الحالة الأكثر شيوعاً .
في نفس السياق ، سلّط الكتاب الضوء بشكل كبير على المنافسين الجدد للقوى التقلدية بمنطقة الساحل الأفريقي ، وكيف تمكنوا من احتواء المنطقة بسياسات إقتصادية وثقافية وفكرية ، مما أدى بتراجع أدوار القوى النافذة بالمنطقة تاريخياً لصالح القوى الجديدة المؤثرة ، بشكل أو لآخر ، بالمنطقة . الكتاب يؤدي بنا على مخرجات ونتائج مفادها بالدرجة الأولى أن التنافس الدولي بمنطقة الساحل الفريقي ، لم يعد يقتصر على القوى الكبرى في الأصعدة الأمنية والسياسية والإقتصادية فقط ، ولكن هذا التنافس توسع لعدد من القوى المؤثرة بشكل علني أو سري ، وفي مجالات أخرى تعتمد على القوى اللينة ، كالترويج للثقافة والأفكار والإيديولوجيات ، وهو طريقة جديدة في كسب فضاءات جديدة بالمنطقة ، قد تقلب موازين قوى التأثر بالقارة الإفريقية ككل .
