أشارت نتائج العديد من الدراسات أن أبناء المرضى العقليين مقارنة بالعينات المعيارية هم أكثر عرضة للمشكلات الانفعالية والسلوكية والاضطرابات العقلية، وأن أبناء المرضى بالاضطراب الوجداني ثنائي القطب معرضون لتطور هذا الاضطراب بشكل رئيسي وأنواع أخرى من الاضطرابات المختلفة في مرحلة المراهقة، عبر العديد من المشكلات التي تعد منبئة بالاضطراب الوجداني ثنائي القطب، وأن دراسات قليلة هي التي تناولت هؤلاء الأبناء في عمر المراهقة. ونهدف من هذا الكتاب للكشف عن المشكلات النفسية المنبئة بالاضطرابات اللاحقة لدى المراهقين من الجنسين في المرحلة العمرية من (12- 18)، أبناء الأمهات المضطربات بالاضطراب الوجداني ثنائي القطب، والكشف عن الفروق في هذه المشكلات، تبعًا للجنس، أو النوبة الحالية لاضطراب الأم، وعلاقتها بالنوبة الحالية لدى الأم، وتمييز درجة وترتيب المشكلات من كونها أعراض أو اضطرابات، بالإضافة إلى التحليل العاملي لفحص البناء العاملي للأبعاد الفرعية، وعلاقتها مع بعضها على مستوى العوامل، للخروج بزملات مرضية استنادًا على الأساس النظري للمقياس المستخدم.
