يُعد هذا الكتاب الأول من نوعه باللغة العربية، ويتناول أربع دراسات عن الحروب الصليبية من خلال وثائق الجنيزة اليهودية.
حقيقة الأمر: تعد وثائق الجنيزة مصدراً مهماً من مصادر دراسة الحياة اليومية للطائفة اليهودية في ذلك العصر، وهي بالتالي تقدم لنا مادة مصدرية حيوية عن الجوانب الإجتماعية والإقتصادية على نحو لا نجده لدى كتب الحوليات التي أرخت للعلاقات بين الشرق والغرب في العصور الوسطى.
والجنيزة هي مجموعة الأوراق والوثائق التي لا يجوز إبادتها أو إهمالها وفقاً للديانة اليهودية، خصوصاً إذا ضمت اسم الله بين ثناياها، وإنما يتم تخزينها في غرفة معزولة في الكنيس أو المعبد.
