تنخرط رواية ولي النعمة في برنامج كتابة واقعية، وتكسر طموحها نحو الشفافية الشاملة بنزوع بلاغي يضفي على لغة الكتابة جمالية لافتة عبر تجنيد المكونات الجوهرية لبنية الشعر في بنية السرد.
تلتقط الرواية شخصياتها من الواقع المغربي وتضعها في الحكاية، وإن لم تعثر على الشخصية المناسبة هنا، جاءت بها من وهران إلى فاس ثم طنجة، لتستقر بها في العاصمة الرباط، موطن ولي النعمة الذي تبني له الرواية صورة على هيئة الطاغية الروماني كاليغولا.
وبرغم تعدد الأمكنة والفضاءات في هذا النص الروائي، فالمكان الرئيس الذي ترتبط به الحكاية، في مسارها وبرنامجها السرديين، هو العاصمة الرباط. ويكشف النص، عبر الوصف التفصيلي والمجمل أحيانا، عن معرفة دقيقة بهذا الفضاء.
وعبر التنقل بين هذه الأمكنة، يرسم النص مصائر الشخصيات المكونة لمجتمع الرواية، الذكورية منها والنسائية. ويتيح هذا إرسال مقالتين: تهم الأولى مجتمع الرواية وعلاقاته؛ وتهم الثانية صيغ وصف المكان الذي يشكل خلفية حكايات هذه الشخصيات؛ وهذا عمل ينتظر الإنجاز.
وكي تصل الرواية إلى كامل تناسقها، تعطف حكاياتها المبنية بناء عنقوديا على خلفية زمنية شديدة التحديد: تمتد قرابة تسعة عشر سنة (19 سنة)؛ من يناير 1981 إلى يوليوز 1999؛ أي أن زمانها يشكل قسما من أزمنة الجمر والرصاص والغبار في المغرب " الجديد"، مغرب ما بعد الحماية!؟
