تتناول هذه الدراسة الوثائقية أحداث انقلاب 12 يناير عام 1964 والمؤامرة الدولية على الوجود العربي العمانى في شرق أفريقيا الذى استمر بشكل رسمى حوالى ثلاثمائة عام وعلاقات تجارية تمتد في أعماق التاريخ حيث توضح أسباب هذا الانقلاب وتفاصيل أحداثه وكذلك الموقف البريطاني والإسرائيلي والأمريكي والعربي من هذا الانقلاب وكذلك الآثار التي خلفها هذا الانقلاب على شرق أفريقيا عموماً (خاصةً زنجبار) الحقيقة أن زنجبار (التابعة لدولة تنزانيا الآن في شرق أفريقيا) تحتل مكانة خاصة في المحيط الهندي، حيث تتميز بموقع استراتيجي هام وتعتبر محطة تجارية مهمة في طريق التجارة بين الشرق والغرب، وزادت أهميتها بعد حفر قناة السويس بالإضافة إلى ما تتمتع به من ثراء في الثروة الطبيعية خاصة المحاصيل الزراعية مثل القرنفل وجوز الهند. ولعبت دوراً هاماً كمركز لتجارة الرقيق في شرق أفريقيا بالإضافة إلى كونها مركزاً للحضارة العربية والإسلامية في شرق أفريقيا وعن طريقها تم نشر الإسلام في تنجانيقا والساحل الشرقي الأفريقي وفى الكونغو (زئير) وإلى منطقة البحيرات الاستوائية العظمى بإفريقيا.
