حسن نوري سلمان العلوي مفكر عراقي مسلم شيعي المذهب ولد في عام 1936، بمنطقة كرادة مريم، وتسمى المنطقة الخضراء حاليا. وهو نائب سابق عن الكتلة الشيعية بالبرلمان العراقي.
نشاته
ولد في بغداد عام 1936 في كرادة مريم حي العباسية ما بين المجلس الوطني العراقي والقصر الجمهوري في المنطقة الخضراء حاليا ضمن عائلة فقيرة ومتعلمة تملك مكتبة ضخمة غنية بكتب التراث والفقه واللغة والتاريخ والتي تعود إلى جده السيد سليمان فقيه الكرادة وإمامها.تخرج من كلية الآداب في جامعة بغداد وكان أحد اساتذته في الجامعة عالم الاجتماع العراقي الشهير علي الوردي.
خروجه عن صدام
كان حسن العلوي شخصية مقربة من صدام ايام احمد حسن البكر وكان يُلقَب ب محمد حسنين هيكل صدام. ساعده نظام البعث كي يصبح رئيس تحرير مجلة الف باء العراقية في ذلك الوقت لكن بعد وصول صدام إلى السلطة نفذ إعدامات بحق اقارب العلوي بينما كان العلوي يقضي إجازة في لندن، وطلب منه صدام ان لايعود لانه كان يشك به على أنه يحوك مؤامرة ضده لكن العلوي عاد ووضع تحت الإقامة الجبرية لمدة شهر واحد كما ذكر العلوي ذلك إلى أن تمكن من الخروج لسوريا ليصدر صحيفة المؤتمر المعارضة. والقصة هي أنه بتبوء صدام لحكم العراق فإنه لم يعد بحاجة ل حسن العلوي، كما لم يعد بحاجة للكثيرين من أمثاله فهرب حسن العلوي وأصبح منذ ذلك الوقت معارضا لصدام بعد أن كان سنين طويلة من المدافعين عنه. وهو شقيق هادي العلوي الذي يعتبر من أهم من أنجبه العراق في القرن العشرين من كُتاب مرموقين.
