المسيرة الطويلة نحو الحرية، مذكرات كتبها الزعيم الإفريقي مانديلا فى السجن عام 1975م، سجلها فى الخفاء بعيدا عن أعين السجناء، وفى ظروف قاسية لا يتحملها إلا مثال مانديلا كانت المذكرات هى وسيلة مانديلا ليتمسك بالماضى، وإحيائه فى ذاكرته خلال فترة السجن التى تتشابه فيها الساعات والأيام والسنوات والماضى والمستقبل، والكتاب الذى بين أيدينا الأن هو السيرة الذاتية لهذا الزعيم المناضل الذى قسم حياته مرحلتين وفقا لتسلسل الاحداث التى تعرض لها فى حياته بدءا بطفولته ثم عوامل تكوينه مرورا بحياته كطالب يدرس القانون وحبه لممارسة الملاكمة كهواية ثم زواجة الأول والثانى وظهوره كشخصية مؤثرة فى المؤتمر الأفريقي، وكيف قضى 27 عامآ فى إحدى جزر الشيطان وهى قلعة قديمة رهيبة فى جزيرة روبين منفى المجرمين، لقى هناك أشد ألوان الأضطهاد والتعذيب ولكنه لم يتزحزح خطوة عن مبادئه ومطالبه حتى وصل الى ذروة مجده السياسي وحقق أقصى غاياته وهى أنهاء النظام العنصري وانتخابة أول رئيس أسود لجنوب أفريقيا، إنه كتاب جدير بالقراءه والاقتناء لما فيه من عظات غالية ومسيرة شعب ناضل وقدم لنا نماذج مشرفة من الكفاح والتمسك بالمبدأ بالأضافة الى العادات والتقاليد والممارسات الشعبية لشعب جنوب أفريقيا خلال تاريخ طويل من الكفاح من أجل الحرية.
