لسنا بصدد الحديث عن تطور الوسائل التعليمية المختلفة، ولكن ما يعنينا هنا هو أن هذه الوسائل تؤدي وظيفة إعلامية، ورغم أن هدفنا من الدراسة هو معرفة دور الاعلام في التعليم إلا أننا سنتعرض أيضاً إلى دور الاتصال المباشر بغية اكتمال العرض ووضوح الصورة وفي مؤلفنا هذا سنتناول الرسائل الرئيسية منها والتي تشكل الجانب القوي في التعليم في المدارس والتي تتوافر فيها كالراديو والتلفزيون والوسائل الايضاحية.
وعلى هذا يضم الكتاب ثمان فصول يتعرض الفصل الأول لابعاد أزمة التربية والتعليم في المجتمع العربي ويشمل على المعوقات المختلفة لمسيرة التربية والمجتمع العربي ومنها "العامل السكاني - العامل الاقتصادي - العامل الاجتماعي النظام التربوي.
أما الفصل الثاني فيتعرض لمشكلة الأمية في مصر ويشتمل على الأمية وطبعتها، مفهوم الأمية، تعريفات الأمية، مصادر الأمية، استراتيجيات الأمية، وسائل التعليم لمحو الأمية وتشمل الأفلام المتحركة التسجيلات الصوتية، المشاهدات التوضيحية، الراديو، التليفزيون.
أما الفصل الثالث فيشمل على تطور طرق وسائل التعليم ويركز على التعليم قبل الإسلام، طرق التعليم والإسلام، طرق التعليم العصري.
ويشمل الفصل الرابع عن وظائف وسائل الاعلام بين كل من العالمين ماكلوهان وليرنر.
أما الفصل الخامس فهو عن الدور التعليمي للاذاعة والتفزيون، رؤية تقومية ويشمل على:- الإذاعة والتفزيون كوسائل للاتصال الجماهيري، حدود وامكانيات الاذاعة والتلفزيون في المجال التعليمي.
ويشمل الفصل السادس على التجارب المختلفة في مجال استخدام الإذاعة والتلفزيون في التعليم وهو يعرض نماذج من أبحاث التلفزيون والراديو في المجتمعات المختلفة.
أما الفصل السابع فيحتوي على استخدام الاذاعة والتلفزيون في مصر في المجال التعليمي ويتضمن عرضاً لاجراء الدراسة الميدانية.
الفصل الثامن يشتمل على نتائج الدراسة الميدانية.
