اصدرت مسرحية شاطيء المدينة الفاضلة عام 2002، وهى مسرحية ثلاثية ألفها الكاتب توم ستوبارد، حيث ركز على المناقشات الفلسفية التى حدثت خلال مرحلة ما قبل الثورة الروسية بين عامى 1833- 1866، تعد ثلاثية "توم ستوبارد" من أنجح الأعمال الدرامية بعد عام 2007.
ويشمل هذا العمل ثلاث مسرحيات والتى تسجل أحداث قصة مجموعة من الأصدقاء الذين عاصروا الحكم الاستبدادى القيصرى للقيصر نيو كلاس، وحيث يظهر معنى كلمة "المثقفين".
تضم هذه المجموعة مايكل باكونين الفوضوى، الذى كان يتحدى كارل ماركس من أجل أرواح الجماهير، وأيفن توجنيف مؤلف بعض من أشهر الأعمال استمرارية بالأدب الروسى، والعبقرى والشارد والناقد الشاب فيزاريون بلينسكى، والكسندر هيزرن ابن رجل نبيل وأول من أعلن نفسه كاشتراكى بروسيا، والذى أصبح التركيز الأساسى داخل هذا العمل الدرامى بالنسبة إلى السياسة والحب والضياع، والخيانة، إذ يعرض ستوبارد داخل هذا العمل تجربة ملهمة للصراع بين الفوضى السياسية والرومانسية، والمثالية الخيالية وبين الإصلاح العملى.
