أوصت أمى أن تقسو على قليلا حتى لا يزداد اعوجاجى وأن الشدة تلزمنى بعد أن فار جسمى وأصبحت مؤهلة للولوج إلى عالم النساء، وما أدراكى ما عالم النساء قالت جدتى تلك الكلمات وباخت بسمها فى أذن أمى التى زجرتنى بنظراتها المتوعدة وأقسمت إن لم ألزم الطريق المستقيم وأصيخ السمع لها فسوف تقوم على الفور إلى المقص الحديدى وتقص شعرى الذى يمايزنى ويجعلنى أختال بجمالى، فكرة قص الشعر هذة متوارثة فى عائلتى فهذا عقاب رادع لمن تسول لها نفسها أن تغرى رجلا ولو بإشارة بريئة أو تحاول أن تشذ عن القطيع، ولولا وجود أبى فى حياتى لأصبحت نسخة مكرورة من عمتى مُهرة التى وجدت فى تطريز المفارش الحريرية متنفسا لأحلامها من خلال اللوحات المبهمة التى تطرزها بخيوط فضية وذهبية لامعة حتى أنها صنعت مفرشا للسرير عكفت عليه سنة كاملة طرزت عليه قصة حسن ونعيمة دون أن تبدى ذلك للجدة، كانت تخبئه بين طيات ملابسها، كنت الوحيدة التى كان من الممكن أن تسمح لها بالاطلاع عليه وتلمس خيوطه وتطريزا ته الفاجئة بالحياة والراغبة فى الخلاص والفرار إلى حضن رجل يجعلها ذات يوم أما لصبيان وبنات، كانت ترغب فى ترك البيت الكبير إلا أنها لم تلفت أو تثير أحدا من الرجال الذين أحضرتهم ستوتة، بلانة القرية العجوز، التى أوشكت على دخول القبر، حتى تجمدت عمتى مهرة فى مكانها كتمثال من الشمع الأسود، تهرب إلى عوالم التطريز تنكفىء عليها حتى أوشك نور عينيها على الذهاب لولا أن تداركت الأمر أخيرا وارتضت أن ترتدى نظارة طبية أضافت إلى عمرها أعواما أخرى دون أن تدرى
