اطلق ابن طولون هذا الاسم على هذا الكتاب كانه يقيد كل انسان فى حديثه عن يزيد بن معاوية سوء يكون شروده من حيث المبالغه فى رفع مكانه يزيد ووضعه فى مكانه عليه مبالغ فيها او يكون مشروده من حيث المبالغه فى تقليل شان يزيد والنزول بمكانته حتى يصل به الى اللعن والسب فجاء شمس الدين بن طولون لكى يبين لنا الطريق المستقيم فى هذا الامر وهو الطريق الوسط اهل السنة والجماعى خاصة ان الناس فى يزيد ثلاثه فرق فرقه الحبقةوفرقة لعنته وفرقه لا تسبه وتحبه وقد جاء هذا الكتاب كدراسة وافيه للمؤلف شمس الدين بن طولون جاءت متمثله فى الحديث عن اسمه ولقبه ونشاته والحديث عن عقيدته تم مكانته العلميه والاجتماعيه وبعضا من المحن التى واجهته العلمية والاجتماعية وبعضا من المحن التى واجهته فى حياته ثم الحديث عن شعره خاصه ان له ديوانين من الشعر .
