Ibn Zamrak est l'un des derniers grands poetes neo-classiques de l'Andalousie (1333-1398). Celebre de son vivant, il eut l'insigne privilege de voir sa poesie utilisee pour orner les oeuvres architecturales realisees en son temps, en particulier la cour des Lions, le patio de los arrayanas et la salle de las hermanas.
Ce sont les poemes et les muwashshahats pleines de fraicheur qui nous revelent un poete fascine par la beaute: celle de la ferme d'abord qu'il evoquera avec beaucoup de delicatesse et de tendresse en nous faisant part de tout ce qui la rend desirable.
Celle de la nature ensuite, de Grenade en particulier avec son Alhambra qui se dresse fiere et altiere dans un environnement enchanteur. C'est a travers des tableaux suggestifs, a la maniere d'Ibn Khafadja, cet amant de la nature qu'il admirait tant, qu'Ibn Zamrak nous fait part de son admiration infinie de ce don du ciel embelli par la main de l'homme: ce sont tantot les jardins fleuris, les ruisseaux au doux murmure, les jets d'eau rafraichissants, les canalisations <
