أهتمت مصر بحماية المبتكر منذ بداية نهضتها الحديثة فكانت عن طريق التسجيل امام مكاتب الشهر العقارى ثم أصدرت القانون 132 لسنة 1949 الخاص ببراءات الاختراع ونماذج المنفعة وانشأت فى عام 1956 المركز القومى للبحوث ثم جاءت اكاديمية البحث العلمى فوزارة للبحث العلمى . ومع الانضمام الى اتفاقية جوانب التجارة المتصلة بحقوق الملكية الفكرية وهى إحدى اتفاقية جولة اوراجوى عام 1994 والتى أسفرت عن انشاء منظمة التجارة العالمية ولما كانت مصر قد انضمت للتتواءم مع هذه الاتفاقية وفعلا صدر القانون 82 لسنة 2002 متضمنا حماية أكثر للمخترع وعقوبة أشد على التقليد والسرقة .
