هذه جولة أدبية مع سيدة هى أفضل سيدات عصرها. فلقد كانت أفضل سيدة فى قريش نسبا وشرفا، وكان أبوها سيدًا. ففى بيئة عربية عريقة، مجاورة لبيت الله فى مكة، نشأت هذه السيدة فى قومها بنى زُهرة. وقد أعطاها الله من الجمال والكمال، بحيث يقال إنها "ما كانت تدعى إلا حكيمة قومها" لقد وجدنا كثيرًا من القصائد التى تمدح الرسول صلى الله عليه وسلم، فى عصره وبعد عصره، تنسبه إلى أمه آمنة، فيقولون "ابن آمنة"، فأى شرف بعد ذلك؟ وقومها بنو زُهرة – مع قريش بصفة عامة – قوم تجار ترحل قوافلهم إلى البلاد، ويجنون من وراء تجاراتهم خيرًا وفيرًا، بالإضافة إلى خبراتهم بالشعوب التى يتعاملون معها. كما يفد إلى بلدهم حُجاج بيت الله، فكان لدى المقيم فى مكة من الثراء المعرفى ما يجمع معارف العرب جميعًا. فقد أشار القرآن الكريم إلى رحلة الإيلاف فى سورة قريش، وقد كان الإيلاف من أعظم النعم عليهم، قام به أبناء عبد مناف بى قصى وقد عقد هاشم مع إخوته عقود الإيلاف مع الأمم المجاورة ونظم التجارة فى رحلتى الشتاء والصيف، وأقر مشاركة الفقير مع الغنى فى هذه الرحلات، حتى غدت تجارة القوافل أبرز عوامل الاقتصاد للمجتمع القرشى فى مكة، إضافة إلى موسم الحج ويروى أن قريشًا قبل الإيلاف "إذا أصاب واحدًا منهم مخمصة خرج هو وعياله إلى موضع وضربوا على أنفسهم خباء حتى يموتوا، إلى أن جاء هاشم بن عبد مناف" والنظرة إلى ما قبل عمل هاشم بن عبد مناف للإيلاف تجعلنا نتصور حجم هذه الخطوة، فالقوافل "كانت تبعث من قبل الأفراد، وكان فى ذلك مخاطرة كبيرة، فالتجار معرضون لخسارة كل شىء فى حالة هجوم قطاع الطرق أو القبائل المعادية، والتاجر الذى استثمر كل رأس ماله ربما خسر كل شىء، فكان الإيلاف هو الذى جعل الرحلات أمينة. وكان رأى هاشم فى ضم الفقير لمشروع القوافل رأيا جريئا، إنه أراد أن يعطى الفقير بعض الحصص فى الأرباح مكافأة لعمله، أو من الراجح، مقابل توظيف المبالغ الصغيرة للأقارب الفقراء... وهذه الفكرة (فكرة مخالطة الفقير – أو الأدنى مرتبة – مع الغنى) كانت المثل الأعلى فى المجتمع الجاهلى". وهى نفس القيم التى كانت السيدة آمنة تتمنى وجودها فى ابنها الهاشمى، بقولها: حتى أراه حامل الكلال ويفعل العرف إلى الموالى وغيرهم من حشوة الرجال
