تتوجه رواية "مسيرة التغيير" إلى جمهور «إنتفاضة 17 تشرين» وغيرها من ساحات النضال، الذين جاءوا من مختلف المناطق والطبقات الاجتماعية والمشارب والأديان، تناشدهم أن يواصلوا «مسيرة التغيير» وألا ييأسوا بسبب الصعوبات والعقبات، وإلا ضاعت أحلامهم لعقود آتية أو للأبد. وتلعب الرواية هنا دور الإنذار المُبكر والجرس المُنبّه للشباب للتمسك بطموحاتهم المستقبلية وأن يحولوا دون أن يغتال الحكم الفاسد أحلامهم. ويتداخل الحديث عن الثورة وأحداثها لتخلق نصّاً روائياً له تميّزه، ورصانته، وسرديته المشوّقة، التي عُرف بها شبارو كروائي ملتزم بقضايا وطنه. يقول الكاتب غسان شبارو عن روايته: «تتلمّسُ رواية «مسيرة التغيير» أحداثاً من وحي نبض انتفاضة الشباب متنقلةً معهم عبر جيل (2020-2050)، من التحديات... من النضال والهزيمة، من الصمود والسقوط، من التصدي والخيانة، ومن الهجرة والموت».بهذه العبارات يختصر شبارو مأساة وطن، تبدو حياة مواطنيه مفتوحة على خيارات صعبة للغاية قد يكون مداها الانهيار والفوضى التي سيخسر الجميع جراءها. وهذا ما تحذّر منه الرواية بوقائعها التي تدور على مدى ثلاثين عاماً، تعيد سلطة الفساد خلالها إنتاج نفسها، إذ تستمر الصفقات، والتوريث السياسي، والقهر الاجتماعي، والقمع والعنف، والتسلّط والظلم، والمخططات المشبوهة. في «مسيرة التغيير» يرصد شبارو فورة الثورة المفاجئة التي اجتاحت لبنان إثر انتفاضة 17 تشرين الأول 2019، من خلال الوقوف على تفاصيل النشاط اليومي لبطلي الرواية «حمزة» و«جوليا» ومن معهم من شباب الثورة ومنظمات المجتمع المدني، الذين هتفوا بأعلى أصواتهم «الشعب يريد إسقاط النظام»، و«يسقط حكم المصرف» ورددوا تباعاً «ثورة ... ثورة». ومن خلال شخصيات هذه الرواية، يستعرض القارئ كشفاً لعقود من تقلبات الحال التي تعرض لها الإنسان اللبناني داخل وطنه، وفي هجرته وغربته القسرية.
