بالإشارة إلى أنه فى تاريخ الفن المصرى خلال النصف الثانى من القرن العشرين هناك ثلاثة نحاتين تخصصوا فى قهر الخامات الصلبة واشتهروا بتخصصهم فى إخضاعها هم عبدالبديع عبدالحى (1916 - 2004)، ومحمود موسى (1913 - 2003)، والثالث هو صبرى ناشد (1938) الوحيد الذى تخصص فى معالجة التماثيل الخشبية فقط وتألق فى إخراج آيات الجمال من الخشب الذى استخدمه فى معظم تماثيله التى نحتها من خامة لا تقبل التسوس، واستطاع تطويعها لتجسيد الحركة التى تضفى على منحوتاته مزيداً من الرشاقة، لقد عشق ناشد خامة الخشب فعاش فيها وامتلكها وأصبح النحات الأول والأوحد الذى أجرى حواراً ناجحاً مع هذه الخامة النبيلة، وكان لا يبيع تماثيله وإنما يحتفظ بها ليقدمها لجمهور معارضه باعتبارها جزءاً منه مستمراً ومتصلاً ومعبرة عن تطوره الفنى حتى بدأ يغير موقفه عندما اقتنت نانسى كيسنجر حرم وزير خارجية أمريكا الأسبق قطعة من إبداعه وهى تمثال زهرة الصبار عام 1974 لتستقر بعد ذلك فى متحف الفن الإفريقى بواشنطن. بعد ذلك يتحدث الشارونى عن السيرة الذاتية لصبرى ناشد الذى ولد بقنا فى أول يناير 1938 ودرس بكلية الفنون التطبيقية قسم النحت وتخرج عام 1962 وبلغ عدد معارضه الخاصة 14 معرضاً، وحصل على العديد من الجوائز بداية من عام 1961، واهتم باكتساب الخبرات الخاصة التى لدى أستاذيه الفنانين منصور فرج وحسن العجاتى فتعلم منهما أسس التصميم والصبر على الشدائد، والصياغة الرشيقة لمنحوتاته، وتميز ناشد بالإصرار على ممارسة الفن وإخلاصه له بكل مقوماته الجمالية المشحونة بالتوازن الشديد الإيحاء. بعد ذلك ينتقل الشارونى إلى الحديث عن بعض إبداعات صبرى ناشد ومنها تمثال "زهرة الصبار" و"بإرادة" و"مع كل شهير. يسقط السلام" و"الشهيد" و"الأطلال" ومعرضه بعنوان "فلسطين شعب لا يقهر" وتمثال "العائلة" أو "الحب" ومنحوته "الحياة" وغيرها.
