نشأت فكرة هذا البحث، بعد أن رأينا هذا الزحف الهائل لكثير من الكلمات الأجنبية إلى واقعنا اللغوي، من إنجليزية إلى فرنسية إلى إيطالية إلى يونانية إلى تركية إلى لاتينية. ولم يكن هذا الزحف حملاً لمصطلح ولكنه متمثل في كلمات عادية، وعبارات لغوية لها ما يقابلها في لغتنا بل إن هذا المقابل أوضح وأسلس، وأكثر قدرة على التعبير.
ففي الفصل الأول أشرنا إلى أهمية اللسان في التأكيد على هويتنا، تلك الهوية التي تجمع العرب من المحيط إلى الخليج، والتي لولاها لضاعت المعالم ولاحظنا أن العناية باللسان كانت مع كل مد، فإذا انحسرت انحسر معها اللسان، وفي الفصل الذي عقدناه عن الثقافة والمثقفين كانت صحبتنا لهذه الظاهرة في مجالات متعددة. ذلك أن المثقف له دوره الخلاق. وهو بما اختزنه من خبرة ودربة وحنكة قادر على التغيير لو أراد، لما له من سحر التأثير، وعمق التقليد عند المصاحبين، وعلى الرغم من أن الصحف والمجلات، والإذاعات المسموعة والمرئية هي قنوات ثقافية، إلا أن وقفتنا معها كانت وقفة خاصة لجماهيريتها، وقوة تأثيرها، ولخطوة الدور الذي تؤديه في التوجيه الثقافي، وفي الفصل الذي عقدناه للحديث عن الواقع اللغوي في عالم الرياضة وقفنا محللين لما آل إليه الحال من زحف أجنبي، مشيرين إلى المستويات المختلفة للتعليق على المباريات الكروية خاصة، لأنها اللعبة الشعبية الأولى. ولقد نبهنا إلى خطورة هذا المجال في الإصلاح اللغوي، لو أحسن استغلاله، وصدق توجيهه، وفي الفصل الذي عقدناه للحديث عن المثل اللغوي الأغلى أكدنا على أن العناية بالعربية في مجالات لها ذيوع وانتشار ستؤدي إلى وعي بلساننا مع ضرورة المحافظة عليه، وختمنا هذا البحث بالحديث عن أهم الحلول المقترحة للقضاء على هذه الظاهرة، على الرغم من الإشارات المتكررة لهذه الحلول مع كل فصل.
