كان عام 1995 عاما فاصلا فى تاريخ جماعة الإخونا المسلمين وبالأخص حركة الجيل الوسيط " الذى يمثل تيار التجديد " داخل الجماعى. فقد شهد هذا الجيل أول صدام له مع الدولة فيما عرف بمحاكمة مجلس شورى الجامعة بعدها جاءت بيعة المقابر عام 1996 التى كان من تداعياتها الهامة والرئيسية إنشقاق مجموعة من حزب الوسط. كانت الصدمة كبيرة لهذا الجيل فقد دلت هذه البيعه على إحكام سيطرة الحرس القديم بكل أساليبه فى الممارسة السياسية داخل الجماعة وخارجها - على مقاليد المور وبشكل نهائى.
