لوحظ أن المكتبة الرياضية من خلال الدراسة على المستوى المصري والعربي تكاد تخلو من مراجع تتناول دراسة الإحتراف الرياضي بالرغم من أنه تم تطبيقه من عشرات السنين في مصر وفي غالبية البلاد العربية حتى أصبح سمة تميز معظم الأنشطة الرياضية في العصر الحالي وبصفة خاصة في لعبة كرة القدم، وقد أدى تطبيقه بصورة غير صحيحة إلى ظهور المشكلات والمعوقات التي آثرت بالسلب على تقدم مستوى كرة القدم، وهذا ما دفعنا لطرح هذا الجهد المتواضع لكي نستطيع من خلاله تناول نظام الإحتراف الرياضي من خلال المفهوم الصحيح لتطبيقه وما هو واقع تطبيق ذلك النظام ومعرفة المشكلات والمعوقات التي أثرت في عدم تحقيق أهدافه، مع تقديم المقترحات والتوصيات لتطبيقه بصورة حقيقية من أجل مواكبة التقدم الرياضي على المستوى الدولي والذي كان تطبيق نظام الإحتراف من الأسباب الأساسية في تقدم مستوى اللاعبين في جميع الانشطة الرياضية.
