التايم شير، هو أسلوب للانتفاع بعقار أو بعين محددة أو موصوفة مع آخرين لمدة زمنية محددة لكل منهم، ولقد بدأ في أوروبا عام 1960م بجبال الألب لتلبية حاجات أكبر عدد من القادمين للتزلج على الجليد ثم تطورات الفكرى بانتقالها إلى أمريكا عام 1969 باستخدامها في المباني الأخرى وبدأت في الانتشار عام 1975 وشملت الآن جميع أنحاء العالم حيث تعرف المشاركة في الوقت بأنها "تملك المنافع لقضاء فترة زمنية محددة أسبوعًا أو شهر في العام لشقة موصوفة في الذمة في بلد معين أو بلدان عديدة".
ومما لا شك فيه أن هذا الأسلوب ينشئ حقوقًا والتزامات بين أطراف العقد المتعددين وبينهم وبين الشركة البائعة تكون بين الشركة البائعة ويحتاج الأمر إلى ضبط ذلك حماية لحقوقو الشركاء خاصة وأن العقد يمتد إلى مدد طويلة، ونظرًا لأن هذه الصور من الحقوق والمعاملات تنطوي على تصرفات اقتصادية، وأنه أهم أغراض المركز تجلية القواعد والأحكام الشرعية وتطبيقاتها على المعاملات المعاصرة وأن الشريعة الإسلامية جاءت لتحقيق مصالح الناس، لذلك كان عقد هذه الندوة للتعريف بكل من حقوق الارتفاق وبيان تطبيقاتها المعاصرة ونظام المشاركة الزمنية وبيان موقف الشريعة منهما من أجل أن تسير حياة المسلمين وفق تعاليم الشرع الحكيمة وبما يؤدي إلى وجود مجتمع قائم على الترابط والولاء ليعيش الجميع في سعادة وأمن.
