أن التعليم أسهم في تغيير أوضاع المرأة بشكل كبير، وضمن لها مستقبلاً أفضل، إذ يتوقف مدى إسهام المرأة في الأنشطة الإقتصادية والإجتماعية والسياسية على ما حصلت عليه من تثقيف وتأهيل، حيث يزيد التعليم والتدريب من إمكانية المرأة على العمل ورفع مستوى توقعاتها في الحياة، ويزيح التقاليد الخاطئة، وهذا ما تبرزه الإحصائيات إذ تبين أن نسبة مساهمة المرأة في النشاط الإقتصادي ترتفع مع إرتفاع المؤهل العلمي الذي تحصل عليه، وإن إنتشار التعليم والحاجة إلى عمال مهرة على حد سواء للإضطلاع بالمشاريع الواسعة التي يجري تنفيذها في كل البلدان العربية سوف ييسران إنضمام المرأة إلى قوة العمل، كما أن المرأة التي تبقي بالمنزل تعمل، إذ تطرح الدكتور حامد الموصلي سؤالاً يقول فيه: من قال إن المرأة التي تبقي بالمنزل لا تعمل؟ ويجيب بإحصائية وهي أن ساعات عمل المرأة في فرنسا في الستينيات بلغت 45 مليار ساعة في السنة في حين لم تتعد عدد ساعات العمل للقوى العاملة من الجنسين خارج المنزل 44 مليار ساعة.
كما تشير إحدى الدراسات التي أجريت في أمريكا في السبعينيات إلى أن ما يحققه العمل المنزلي للمرأة من عائد يمثل حوالي ثلث الناتج القومي إذا قيّم بأسعار السوق، وأن متوسط قيمة الإنتاج المنزلي الذي تقوم به الزوجة الأمريكية يمثل حوالي 60% من الدخل القومي للأسرة (الزوج والزوجة معاً) من عملهما خارج المنزل، وأن الخسارة في قيمة الإنتاج المنزلي الناجمة عن خروج المرأة للعمل تساوي تقريباً الزيادة النقدية التي تحققها المرأة نتيجة لإلتحاقها بالقوى العاملة بالقطاع المنظم.
وفي ضوء ما سبق، فإن كتاب التوجيه المهني للفتيات للسيدة ديكسون يُعد كتاباً مفيداً للنساء؛ ربات البيوت والعاملات والموظفات بشكل عام، وللفتيات بشكل خاص - الذي تزامن صدوره في حقبة التوجيه والإرشاد المهني التي انطلقت من أمريكا - ويتضمن الكتاب بابين رئيسيين هما: مثاليات المرأة المعاصرة.
