تعالج هذه الدراسة ظروف نشأة دولة تركيا الحديثة، من حيث الأحداث التي مهدت لتلك النشأة، وما واكبها من تغييرات في المجتمع التركي، وما لزم تلك الدراسة من تعرض للدولة العثمانية السابقة، وهي الدولة التي عاشت نحو خمسة قرون، استطاعت جيوشها خلالها دخول أقاليم واسعة في جنوب شرق أوربا ووسطها، وأحرزت باسم الإسلام انتصارات باهرة، وتساقطت أمامها دول أوربية أسلم العيد من سكانها، وكان من دواعي هذه الدراسة، أن المصنفات الصادرة عن الحقبة التاريخية التي تناولتها، شاب أغلبها عدم الحيدة والإنصاف من جحانب كتابها، وما ترتب علي ذلك من اتسامها برؤية تعسفية للدولة العثمانية، فضلاً عن أن هذه الدراسات لم تتعرض من قريب أو بعيد للنتائج بعيدة المدى التي أسفرت عنها الثورة العسكرية بزعامة "أتاتورك" في شتى المجالات، لهذا فقد استلزمت الدراسة بذل الجهد في استخلاص المعلومات الصحيحة من المراجع المتاحة.
