هذا الكتاب سيرة ابن هشام (التى كتبها ابن إسحاق) هى المصدر الأول لكل ما كتب عن السيرة النبوية حتى الآن.
وقد أتضح لمؤلف الدراسة الحالية - التى أعتمد فيها على القرآن وحده - أكد ما ورد فيها عن: قصة أصحاب الأخدود - عبد المطلب - فترة الاستخفاء - حماية بنى عبد المطلب وبنى هاشم للرسول صلى الله عليه وسلم - الهجرة إلى الحبشة - مقاطعة قريش لبنى هاشم - بيعة العقبة الثانية - حصار بيت الرسول صلى الله عليه وسلم - ظروف الهجرة إلى المدينة - لا يمثل الحقيقة الموضوعية وينطوي على كثير من المغالطات، كما اتضح له أن ما حلفت به سيرة ابن هشام من شعر منحول يدل دلالة قاطعة على نية مبيتة لتزوير السيرة النبوية من طريق انتحال الشعر.
وتظهر هذه الدراسة أيضاً أن الجزء المكى من سيرة ابن هشام ليس سيرة حقيقية للرسول صلى الله عليه وسلم، وأنه يفضل الرسول صلى الله عليه وسلم عن القرآن الكريم، ويسير فى أتجاه مخالف تماماً لاتجاه القرآن، وأن مؤلف "السيرة" تأثر فى كتابته بعدة عوامل هى: وحفيظته الشخصية ضد خالد بن الوليد الذى أسر جدة فى العراق، وعقلية عصر الفتوح التى كانت تعتبر أن النصر العسكرى هو النص الوحيد بهذا الإسم.
وقد حاول مؤلف هذه الدراسة أن يصحح أخطاء ابن اسحاق العديدة وأن يسد بعض الثغرات التى وردتفى حديثه عن الفترة المكية.
