يهدف هذا الكتاب المعنون " الجزر العربية - معطيات البيئة وامكانيات تنميتها"إلى إعطاء القارئ أو الدارس المتخصص صوة متكاملة عن الخصائص الجغرافية الطبيعية والبشرية لأكبر عدد من الجزر العربية والتى يبلغ مجملها نحو ألف جزيرة متناثرة في البحار والخلجان والمحيط الهندي ويعد الكتاب الأول من نوعه الذي يتضمن داخل صفحاته دراسة جغرافية شاملة للجزر العربية باعدادها ومساحاتها المختلفة وان كانت قد سبقته دراسات تناولت بعض الجزر العربية ضمن ما تضمنته من دراسة للدول التى تتبعها تلك الجزر. وقد تمت دراسة الجزر العربية من خلال الدراسة الجغرافية في كل بحر وخليج وذلك تبعا للتبعية السياسية مع مقدمة للخصائص الجغرافية، للجزر والبحر الذي توجد به حتى يسهل تفهم خصائصها في جوانبها المختلفة ويتكون الكتاب من أربعة فصول غير متوازنة في أحجامها وذلك بسبب تركز الجزر في بعض البحار بشكل أكبر من الأخرى. يتناول الفصل الأول الجزر العربية في الخليج العربي وتتبع ست دول عربية ويتضمن الفصل الثاني جغرافية الجزيرات العربية بمضيق هرموز وكذلك الجزيرات العربية العمانية بخليج عمان ثم دراسة تفصيلية للجزر العمانية بالبحر العربي مع التركيز على جزيرة مصيرة الأكبر مساحة والأكثر أهمية. ويتضمن الفصل الثالث دراسة جغرافية متعمقة لجزر خليج عدن والمحيط الهندس حيث توجد اكبر الجزر العربية وأكثرها أهمية. وينتهى الكتاب بدراسة الجزر العربية بالبحر الأحمر والبحر المتوسط والتى تتبع خمس دول عربية. وقد اعتمدت الدراسة على تحليل الخرائط والصور الجوية والصور الفضائية وعلى الدراسة الميدانية لعدد كبير من الجزر كذلك اعتمدت على دراسات عديدة سابقة قام بها عدد كبير من المتخصصين في الجغرافيا وفي علوم أخرى.
