للموت طرقٌ عدّةٌ كلّها مفجعة... ليس من جدوى أن نفاضل بين واحدةٍ وأخرى، تثير ضربات حوافزه على الإسفلت دوياً صارخاً يقلق مضاجعنا، وفي مرّاتٍ كثيرة يمرّ مرور البرق لا نكاد نتيقّن من وقوعه إِلّا بعد أن يرحل مَن نحبّ، أو يدركوا أنّنا رحلنا.
غلالة الأرواح، الّتي ذهبت قبلنا، تحوم مثل ترانيم باهتة خلف النافذة.
الجالسون حول السرير يقول بعضهم لبعض إنّها سكرات الموت، الخروج من عالم والدخول في آخر، العبور غير المتيقّن في الممرّات الفاصلة بين عالمين مثل المشي على جسر رفيع من الحبال يربط جبلين شاهقين.
من قاع الوادي تخرج الذكريات، تصعد الأرواح، تتدافع أسماء أولئك الّذين سقطوا في دروب الحياة الموغلة في القدم، يطفو الحزن وتسمو لحظات الفرح، تمتزج المشاعر الرجراجة، وتسير الروح على الجسر الرفيع، تسقط تارةً ثمّ ترتفع وتواصل المسير.
هكذا يرحل الأموات في إحتفال مهيبٍ محمولين على قطرة ماء في سحابةٍ من الحبّ، مثل عصفور يرتفع وسط خفق أجنحة سربٍّ العائلة الكبيرة، مثل شذا زهرةٍ يسمو في عبّ الغابة، فيما يظلّ الآخرون يبكون ويذرفون الدموع.
