دين كونتز (بالإنجليزية: Dean Koontz ) (ولد عام 1945) كاتب وروائي أمريكي، قال إنه كان يتعرض للضرب والإساءة من والده المدمن على الكحول، وفي عامه الأخير في جامعة شبينسبورغ في ولاية بنسلفانيا فاز بمسابقة الخيال برعاية مجلة الأطلسي الشهرية. بعد التخرج في عام 1967، عمل مدرسا للغة الإنجليزية في مدرسة مشانيسبورغ الثانوية في مشانيسبورغ، بنسلفانيا، وقد عرف برواياته التي تحمل صبغة تشويق غامضة. كذلك تمتزج في رواياته عناصر رعب وخيال علمي وغموض وسخرية. ظهرت عناوين بعض كتبه في قائمة النيويورك تايمز لأعلى الكتب مبيعا.

"مفتاح كلِّ شيء" والرواية من تأليف الكاتب الأمريكي دين كونتز وترجمة ماجد حامد ومراجعة وتحرير مركز التعريب والبرمجة في بيروت.
تقول الرواية: منذ أن غادرت ميشيل منزلها، وهجرت زوجها وابنتها قبل سبع سنوات، وجيفري يبذل قصارى جهده، ليحافظ على انتهاج حياة طبيعية رفقة ابنته التي أصبحت الآن في الحادية عشرة من عمرها، الحياة الطبيعية بالنسبة إليهما هي الحياة الهادئة والآمنة في سوفيداد بيتش، ولكن منذ ظهر العجوز إد على باب بيتهما لم يعد لتلك الحياة الهادئة والطبيعية وجود.
طلب إد من جيفري أن يخفي لديه شيئاً غريباً وخطيراً أطلق عليه اسم مفتاح كلّ شيء، وأخبره أنه لا يجدر به أن يستخدمه مهما يكن الأمر، ولكن بعد زيارة فالكيرك وصحبه من مكتب الأمن القومي، نشّط جيفري وابنته أميتي الجهاز عن طريق الخطأ، وتبيّن لهما أنه جهاز في غاية الخطورة، ولا مثيل له، يتيح لهما التجول بين العوالم المتوازية الغريبة والخطيرة في آن، هذه العوالم جعلت الزوج والابنة يسألان عن إمكانية عثورهما على الزوجة والأم التي يفتقدانها في هذه العوالم. ولكن الاهتمام بهذا الجهاز لا يقتصر على جيفري وابنته، بل هناك رجل يتمتع بغطرسة قل نظيرها وبنظرة سوداوية، يطاردهما للحصول على هذا المفتاح، والاستفادة من إمكانياته اللامتناهية في خدمة غاياته الشريرة، إن حقق هذا الشرير غايته فلن يكون العالم الذي كان طبيعياً وآمناً ذات يوم بالنسبة لجيفري وأميتي آمناً مرة أخرى.
